The Ministry Working Group Reviews the 2012 Regulation on Feasibility Studies
December 2019. Ulaanbaatar. AMEP is providing assistance to the Working Group set up by the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry to review the 2012 regulation about feasibility studies.
International expert, Steve Gemell, visited Mongolia at the end of 2019 for a series of roundtables and meetings with representatives from government and industry. He explained international practices relating to feasibility studies, such as their use by investors and financial institutions and the level of accuracy and risk analysis required in the studies. The Working Group members are considering Steve Gemell’s paper assessing how Mongolian feasibility studies are used and prepared compared to international practices. AMEP will continue to support the Working Group in the development of a revised regulation which is expected to be completed by June 2020.
