PART-TIME ACTIVITY MANAGER 
 
Adam Smith International Mongolia LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Adam Smith International. It was established in 2014, responsible for leading business development and project delivery in Mongolia. The subsidiary company is responsible for portfolio of projects funded by international bi-lateral and multi-lateral development partners. Our team is engaged in business development, project management and consulting activities across a range of sectors including extractive industry and infrastructure development.
 
The Program 
The Government of Mongolia and the Government of Australia have partnered for the Australia Mongolia Extractives Program 2 (AMEP 2) to assist Mongolia to sustainably manage its resource-led growth. The end of program outcome of AMEP 2 is to improve the investment environment for the extractives sector in Mongolia. AMEP 2 is working towards this goal by developing partnerships with relevant government ministries and agencies, the private sector and civil society. AMEP 2 is funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented by Adam Smith International (ASI). The program will be implemented until 31 March 2024.  
 
The Position and Responsibilities
AMEP 2 will be implementing its Annual Work Plan between July 2022 and June 2023 and it is anticipated that the plan will include 10 sub-projects. To support the implementation, AMEP 2 team is seeking a part-time Activity Manager to manage and coordinate 3-4 sub-projects. 
Activity Manager will work as a member of AMEP 2 team and perform the following tasks: 
  1. Manage and coordinate on a day-to-day basis 3-4 sub-projects; ensure effective and efficient implementation of the assigned projects in line with the approved work plan, terms of reference (TOR) and relevant contracts; 
  2. Effectively manage relationships with partners, sub-contractors, consultants and other relevant stakeholders; 
  3. Together with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Officer, be responsible for collecting qualitative and quantitative data and ensure that outputs and outcomes are achieved in line with the activity TOR and AMEP 2 Monitoring and Evaluation Plan; 
  4. Identify and communicate activity related risks and opportunities; effectively mitigate risks in collaboration with the program team; 
  5. Provide logistical and administration support relevant to the activity (e.g., drafting purchase, orders, soliciting quotes, requesting invoices, booking workshop venues) in line with the Operations Manual and Procurement policies; 
  6. Provide regular reports and updates on activity progress, results and achievements; provide inputs to communication outputs; and 
  7. Any other tasks as required. 
Skills and experience required:
·       University degree 
·       At least 10 years of professional experience in project management 
·       A strong understanding and knowledge of Mongolia’s extractive sector legislation and practice is preferrable; 
·       Ability to troubleshoot and identify risks and opportunities;
·       Experience working with government counterparts is preferrable;
·       Experience in international donor organization is preferrable;
·       Excellent English and Mongolian language and communication skills;
·       Ability to build and strengthen relationships and develop lasting partnerships;
·       Great team player and collaborator.
 
Terms of the assignment:
This is a part-time position. The duration of the assignment is from September 2022 to June 2023.
