AusIMM and MONVAL Committee offer a training on mining asset evaluations

The MONVAL Committee in conjunction with AUSIMM have developed a training program on mining asset evaluations. Fifty Mongolian professionals will attend the training from February 23rd to March 28th, 2022.

In November 2021, AMEP 2 signed a contract with the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), the key institutional body representing Australia's mining sector since 1893. AusIMM is currently providing mineral valuation training to Mongolian professionals focused on the newly proposed MONVAL Code.

The MONVAL Code is a set of standards developed to ensure transparency around exploration and mining activities in Mongolia.  Geological and geophysical data collected through these activities is compiled in public reports accessible to investors interested in listed companies on the stock exchange.  Australia and Canada are leaders in the establishment of these important reporting mechanisms, which aim to improve investor confidence, build knowledge of transboundary mineral resources, as well as reduce stock market volatility and risk.  They are a key mechanism to building public trust when it comes to the stock exchange and investment portfolios.

Mongolia's government with the development and support of the multi-stakeholder MONVAL committee aims to introduce a proposed code and reporting framework to be adapted into law. With the adoption of a MONVAL Code, Mongolia's commitment to the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI), shift towards systematic disclosure of information, could open the door to an improved investment climate for both local and international companies.

The MONVAL Committee in conjunction with AUSIMM have developed an exciting training program and opportunity for interested professionals to participate.  Introduction to the proposed MONVAL Code and training on international best practice reporting methodologies and frameworks will be undertaken on this on-line learning platform. MONVAL Committee has recently earned an "Observer" member status in the International Mineral Valuation Committee (IMVAL) consisting of members from valuation standards committees of America, Canada, Australasia, and South Africa. Since 2015, the Australian Government @AusEmbMongolia has been supporting the development of MONVAL Code and #MONVAL Committee through #AMEP2. You can download the proposed MONVAL Code and additional studies on the subject from our website.
